FAQs - Healing Belts
Is the Healing Belt flexible? Can it be wrapped around a shoulder, back, or knee?
Yes. The format of the belt is totally flexible and is made to mold to an area of discomfort for ultimate heating benefit and pain relief.
Where is the Therasage Infrared Healing Belt made?
They are made in our factory in China. Therasage is the designated US importer on record.
I just used the Belt for the first time and noticed that the Tourmaline stones are only present on one side. Is it necessary to use the Belt with the Tourmaline side on the skin’s surface to receive the Far Infrared therapy?
Having the Tourmaline side on the skin offers negative ion therapy, Far Infrared heat therapy, and many alternative healers feel that different stones have healing properties in onto themselves. The flip side is smooth to the skin and will still offer FIR heat benefits because the FIR wavelengths penetrate up to 3 inches in both directions. So it really depends on your own personal preference.
<2>Are there any time suggestions, such as how long to use at one time, and how often it can be used per day? Do you have any guidelines regarding timing?
You can use the Belt as often and for as long as you like. Again personal preference, my wife likes to have hers on and sleeps with it every night throughout the night. Many customers like to use it to help them relax and sooth aches and pains throughout their day, while others like to use the Belt to help expedite the healing process of an injury. The more you use it the more relaxed and revitalized you will feel.
Will the Healing Belt have the same effect and therapy if I put linens or a towel between my skin and the Tourmaline stones?
Yes, since Far Infrared is a wavelength, it can penetrate towels, sheets, and the majority of other coverings.
There is both a green light and a red light on the belt battery, although your manual refers only to the red light. Also, when charging, since the Tourmaline stones are face down, does it matter what surface you put it on to charge? And, can I use the belt for a “frozen shoulder” or other parts of my body that hurt?
The red and green light is a newer edition Lithium "smart" power for our Healing Belts, so when the green light comes on then that means that your Belt is on low heat and the red light means the belt is on high heat.
As for charging, it really doesn't matter which direction, but it is probably easier to charge it with the Tourmaline stone side down so the plug side is exposed.
One thing that is VERY IMPORTANT is that you unplug the power cord after each charge and you plug the cord into the device before the wall each time you charge it.
Lastly you can use the FIR device on any part of your body, especially areas that are in pain like a "frozen shoulder".
Is there a specific place or way to use the Healing Belt?
We suggest using the Belt in a comfortable place, a place where you can relax and benefit the most from using the product. Wrapping it around your waist while you’re on the move is a great way to benefit from the FIR heat while also getting work done. Another suggestion would be to set up the Belt on a problem area (like a shoulder, knee, or hip) and using it on a couch because you’d be able to relax at the same time as using the Belt. We also offer the two different sized expandable inserts which offer the ability to expand the waist size of the Belt, and give you the capability to use them to wrap the Belt around the back of a desk chair or a headrest in your car.
When should I feel results?
Many people experience immediate relief from tension and remedial pain. Some require several days of regular use to feel the benefits of Far Infrared heat. The results vary and will depend upon your underlying conditions and how often you use the Healing Belt. To get the quickest results and greatest benefits, use the Healing Belt according to directions as often as possible.
What is the Return Process?
Contact the support department at place of purchase to request "RA" return authorization.
How long does the relief last?
Again, everyone responds differently but in general, for each hour of use the effective therapy should last up to an additional hour.
The Energizing Truth About Batteries…
What is a 7.4 volt Lithium Ion SMART battery?
It is a rechargeable battery common in portable consumer electronics because of its high energy-to-weight ratios, lack of memory effect, and slow self-discharge when not in use.
Even with recharging, when does this type of battery need to be replaced?
With normal use, the battery industry informs consumers that these batteries have a 30% degradation per year. With an expected number of charge cycles, our engineers inform us that after two years of average use, the battery may have to be replaced.
Is the battery ready for use when I receive my chair?
Yes! Most Lithium Ion batteries arrive from the factory 80% charged. It is always recommended that you allow a battery to discharge completely before recharging.
Are Lithium Batteries safe?
Don’t ask us, ask IBM, Dell, Sony, Toshiba, Apple, Compaq, and all of the notebook manufacturers! Yes, if used for the purpose intended, these batteries are very safe. Yet it is very important to remember that these batteries are still sources of power and should not be exposed to high temperatures (including prolonged direct sunlight), should not be placed in an oven or microwave, should not be abused or neglected, and should not be opened or modified.
What is the life of the battery and how are these batteries disposed of?
All batteries have a finite life. The life will depend upon how you charge and discharge the battery and the temperature at which the battery is maintained. According to the Responsible Energy Corporation, Lithium Ion batteries, like all rechargeable batteries, are recyclable and should be recycled. They should never be incinerated as they might explode. Most places that sell rechargeable batteries will accept them for recycling as will Therasage.

Negative ions are molecules with an extra electron, discovered in 1899 by two scientists named Elster and Geitel. Negative Ions are invisible molecules that we absorb, found in abundance at waterfalls, mountains, beaches and after a rainstorm.
Numerous scientific studies indicate that once they reach our bloodstream, Negative Ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that help calm and relieve stress, alleviate depression, boost our daytime energy and increase our defense against infection by boosting our immune system.
